Career and Leadership Experience
Dr Orji is a public health physician and health systems leader with extensive experience in primary health care practice, implementation science research, and clinical trials in resource-limited settings. He serves as Chief Medical Officer, Director, and Head of the Primary Health Care Department in Kwali Area Council, Federal Capital Territory, Nigeria, where he provides strategic oversight for all primary health centers across the council.

As Medical Officer of Health, he leads the health workforce, drives the implementation and evaluation of high-impact programs, and strengthens service delivery to improve population health outcomes at scale. He oversees integrated, community-centered care and coordinates public health interventions across facilities and communities.

Dr Orji also collaborates with the Cardiovascular Research Centre at the University of Abuja and other national and international partners to advance implementation research in Nigeria. His work focuses on integrating cardio-metabolic care into primary health systems and translating evidence to policy and practice to accelerate sustainable health system improvements in Nigeria.
