Career and Leadership Experience

Prof Abah is a distinguished Professor of Community Medicine and immediate past Acting ViceChancellor with over 25 years of transformative leadership in academia, public health, and institutional governance. Accomplished builder of academic excellence, having founded and secured full accreditation for nine academic programmes, while spearheading national epidemic response systems for COVID-19 and Lassa Fever. An authority in Occupational Safety and Environmental Health, with a proven record in workplace risk management, policy advisory, and advancing health system governance. Demonstrated success in cross-sector partnerships (Temple University, University of New Mexico) and resource mobilisation exceeding ₦250M in competitive grants. Widely recognised by the NCDC, West African College of Physicians, and the Royal Society of Public Health for outstanding contributions to health security, research impact, and capacity development.
